What does the company do?

Living Power generates electricity to meet some of the peak time electricity requirement for the grid using engines powered by high quality, low intensity processed waste cooking oil. The used cooking oil (UCO) which is processed to make the bioliquid (called LF100) is sourced from hotels, restaurants and other larger commercial producers as well as domestic collection points. The company owns four flexible power generation plants totalling 26.2 MW.

The company makes money from generating and selling electricity, particularly at peak times, as well as providing services to the National Grid to help manage supply and demand on the electricity network.

Why did the company raise money?

The money raised in 2016 on Abundance was used to repay an existing loan that helped pay for the build of the company’s biggest plant. This investment was fully repaid by the maturity date of 8 September 2023.

How is the company making an impact?

Using used cooking oil to meet some of the UK’s peak time electricity requirement is a sustainable alternative to the diesel power that is more commonly called upon, and provides a green solution to a common waste product.
